From Saddleback

I came across this video this morning, from Saddleback Community Church. It posed an interesting question for discussion.

For worship, is it too far? Has the attention been distracted from God and on to those on the stage? Or is this simply the next step in worship that is relevant to seekers who have had little exposure to church?

First I'm not 100% positive this is Saddleback Community Church... This just doesn't seem like something they would do...

This kind of worship is too distracting from God... I do however think it is necessary to work the crowd some during P&W...

P&W is a time for us to praise God not watch those on stage put on a big show...

I am 100% sure this is Saddleback and I know this because I can see things in the back ground that are at Saddleback. This is something they would do. Rick M. their worship leader does things like this from time to time and I think we should consider the reason behind this. I know this was not on a Sunday morning but as a time of praise and worship (P&W) and getting the congregation excited I think it is perfect. I don't think it should be used every time but as an opportunity to show off your ministries. If not then why do you have the ministry (dance, etc.) in the first place.

Wow... It's like a Christian Britney Spears concert - just more clothes on and better music. It just seemed a little over the top. Just seemed like the dancing took away from the music - and it was like a concert instead of a worship time.

As long as it is not on a Sunday morning I don't see a problem with it though.
